Acción Andina Honored as UN World Restoration Flagship for Groundbreaking Andean Forest Initiative

Acción Andina has been distinguished as one of seven UN World Restoration Flagships, a prestigious recognition celebrating exceptional large-scale and long-term ecosystem restoration efforts. Acción Andina was recognized for its multi-country, comprehensive effort to restore and protect the vital Andean forests, home to one-sixth of the planet’s plant species. Since its inception in 2018, Acción Andina has successfully engaged 40,000 people in restoring nearly 5,000 hectares of forest and safeguarding over 11,250 hectares. The project, co-led by Constantino Aucca Chutas and Global Forest Generation, exemplifies the power of community-led restoration and ancestral knowledge. The UN recognition underscores its significant impact and potential for global replication.
